Born under the big sky of Austin, Texas, Reverend Nate’s story begins like many others—with innocence, sunshine, and a sweet treat in hand. But fate, in the form of a rogue seagull at Disney World, swooped in when he was just eight years old and stole his ice cream... and perhaps a little of his trust in the world. That moment marked the first of many awakenings.

Music became a refuge. Nate poured himself into percussion, keys, and guitar, chasing rhythm and harmony through the highs and lows of being a starving artist. When that path hit the rocky terrain of reality, he traded strings and sticks for sauce and dough, mastering the art of pizza-making. But behind the oven, the pressure cooked, and he realized he was kneading more than crust—he was kneading peace.

Raised Protestant, his early spiritual experience left a bad taste, more force-fed than fulfilling. So Nate set off on a truth quest. From Taoism to Confucianism, Buddhism to Judaism, through the mysticism of the Kabbalah and the mysteries of the occult, he devoured philosophy and spirituality like slices of enlightenment. Some of it was weird. Some of it was wonderful. But none of it quite felt like home—until he found Dudeism.

On April 29, 2015, Nate officially became a Dudeist—a priest in the Church of the Latter-Day Dude, ordained to spread the mellow message of The Big Lebowski’s sacred slacker philosophy. Through rigorous training, deep contemplation, and perhaps a White Russian or two, The Reverend Nate was born.

His congregation may be small, but his impact is undeniable. He preaches not from a pulpit but from the porch, the pizza parlor, the local park—anywhere people need to hear the sacred words: “Take it easy, man.”

The Reverend Nate’s message is simple and sincere: Relax.

Be kind.

Love one another.

Laugh often.

Smile more.
